Jo is a chartered civil engineer and environmentalist with over thirty years of experience in civil and environmental engineering in the employment of major multi-disciplinary consultancies and most recently a specialist geotechnical and geo-environmental consultancy, CGL, with whom she is a Technical Director. She has responsibility for SHEQ ‘compliance’ across the company. She is involved in the planning, management, design, specification, implementation and interpretation of site investigations/ assessments and remediation for a wide variety of ‘brown field’ projects, including risk assessment and negotiating with and for Regulators. She has wide experience of solving problems associated with development on/near landfills and landfill gas issues in particular and managing the commercial elements. She also specialises in developing waste management solutions for ground works and she is a registered QP/SQP with CL:AIRE. Jo is also a registered environmental auditor with IEMA. Her goal is to provide technically correct, commercially acceptable, practical and cost effective, integrated solutions to all types of contamination/ waste problems associated with development and construction sites. Jo is also a registered environmental auditor with IEMA, with experience of contaminated land and due diligence audits and has acted as an Expert Witness. Jo is a Reviewer for the ICE, and mentor and was a long term member of the ICE Standards Panel. She is also the current Chair of the AGS Loss Prevention Working Group, which looks at commercial risks associated with ground engineering.
In her spare time, she looks after her horses and is a side saddle rider, instructor and judge and is passionate about Cleveland Bays, the original English horse.
